Toorak Village Sculpture Exhibition 2015

Lump at the Toorak Village Sculpture Exhibition

This year, Chris from Lump is once again privileged to exhibit work in the Toorak Village Sculpture Exhibition. We are also proud to continue our support of the arts by sponsoring the event through the presentation of the $5,000 Lump Sculpture Studio Award.

Continuing a Strong Connection

In 2013, Timothea from Lump was honoured with the City of Stonnington and Bank of Melbourne Award for the outdoor sculpture entry Clasp.” The entire Lump team was incredibly proud of the achievement, as every member of the studio played a role in bringing the work to life.

This year, Chris is exhibiting Tricycle,” a sculpture inspired by the exploration of minimalist sculpture trends of the 1960s. Crafted from aluminium and finished in a refined matte black surface, Tricycle reflects a disciplined geometric language while maintaining a playful sense of balance and movement.

Supporting Artists & Small Business

At Lump, we understand firsthand the dedication required to design, fabricate and exhibit sculpture for public viewing. We also appreciate the resilience and determination needed to operate a small business within the creative industries.

For this reason, it felt fitting to reinvest the prize money received for “Clasp” back into the exhibition supporting both the exhibiting artists and the Toorak Village traders who make the event possible.

About the Toorak Village Sculpture Exhibition

The Toorak Village Sculpture Exhibition is an annual event held in the heart of Toorak Village, where art and commerce intersect to create a dynamic public experience.

Throughout May and the first two weeks of June, local traders transform shop windows, arcades and footpaths into temporary gallery spaces, displaying contemporary sculptural works within the streetscape.

Directed by Tony Fialides and curated by Malcolm Thomson and Tracey Cammock, the exhibition is officially opened by the Toorak Village Traders Association on 1 May at the Tok H Centre.

The event continues to be a meaningful platform for artists, businesses and the wider community to connect through contemporary sculpture.
