Lump sentiMETAL project – with Dale

Well its nearing that time of year again when everything and everybody is a little bit crazy. So I thought it fitting to take a little time to reflect on what’s been great this year and share a tiny sentiMETAL moment. I asked 4 questions to all of the Lumpians about what projects they were sentiMETAL about this year and here is what Dale our Lead Hand said.

What is your most sentiMETAL job you have worked on this year? Other than the Christmas bows (again), I think my favorite or most memorable job this year would be the super sized twisted Leaf Skeletons for the BUILDCORP apartment complex. Two, 3 meter, 3mm outdoor sculptures on concrete bases and a monster 5 meter, 6mm indoor sculpture.

Why is it your favorite? It stands out to me because I had quite a lot of input in the construction, engineering and installation of these pieces. It was also one of those big jobs we seem to do where most members of the Lump team play an important part. From the design, programming, laser cutting, welding, mock up, painting and installation, it seems we were all on it for some time.

What special part did you play in the project? My part was to engineer and construct the sculptures, build forms for the concrete bases, liaise with the BUILDCORP crew regarding pre-installation logistics, and to work with them during the installation.

What was the most memorable thing about the project? Other than the satisfaction of everything going according to plan and a very smooth installation, I think the most memorable thing would be spending one of the days on site talking cars with all the tradies after Dan and I drove the Ranchero to site. It’s a great talking point! Leaf Skeleton Sculpture. Image courtesy of Dale.
