Public Art in Melbourne’s South East – Large-Scale “Nest” Sculptures at Orana by Balcon

At the entrance to Orana by Balcon, three impressive large-scale metal Nest sculptures create a striking landmark for residents and visitors. Designed and fabricated by Lump Sculpture Studio, these custom public art pieces enhance the new master planned community in Melbourne’s South East with both artistic beauty and symbolic meaning.

Inspired by Lump’s original  Social Collider Theory sculpture, each Nest reflects the circular and entwined rings of the Orana by Balcon logo. The trio of sculptures ranges in size from 1000mm to 2000mm to 3000mm in diameter, with each ring individually rolled, shaped, and positioned to create the intricate, woven “Nest” effect. The bronze powder coat finish provides a durable, weather-resistant surface perfect for outdoor installation.

Installed on reinforced concrete footings with integrated lighting, these public art sculptures are as captivating at night as they are by day.
