Features in the Landscape
At Lump, we are incredibly fortunate to see our work featured in remarkable and sometimes almost inconceivable landscape designs. We owe great credit to the clients, designers and landscapers who continually trust that our original designs will complement and integrate seamlessly into their spaces. We are honoured every time you choose to collaborate with us.
At the 2015 Landscaping Victoria Industry Awards, one extraordinary project took home four major awards. Designed by Steve Taylor from C.O.S. Design and constructed by Hamilton Landscapes, The Beaumaris Project received:
Landscape of the Year (Hamilton Landscapes)
Hard Structures in the Landscape (Hamilton Landscapes)
Residential Landscape Construction Over $300,000 (Hamilton Landscapes)
Landscape Design Over 200m² (C.O.S. Design)
A Commitment to Vision
Delivering a landscape of this calibre requires a deeply committed client committed to the process and to the ultimate vision. This garden exceeded expectations for everyone involved, including its designer, Steve Taylor.
Reflecting on the completed project, both Steve Taylor and Paul Hamilton of Hamilton Landscapes described it as one of the most challenging and memorable projects of their professional careers.
Technical Excellence on a Challenging Site
The site presented significant technical challenges. Set on a dramatic elevation and effectively built on a sand dune in the heart of Beaumaris, the project demanded precision engineering and exceptional craftsmanship.
A Lump Letterbox anchors the streetscape, framed by retaining walls and a bold mix of architectural planting. Large floating steps guide visitors upward to the pool and entertaining area, positioned in the front yard to capture sweeping bay views.
Above the spa, a cantilevered pergola incorporates a Lump Ink Blot screen as its canopy, casting decorative reflections across the water. A custom-designed Lump Light Feature Panel is integrated into the retaining walls, serving as both a striking night time feature and an essential element of the privacy strategy. The design motif, inspired by the local tea trees, continues through to the front gate, creating cohesion throughout the landscape.
With such an impressive outcome, it’s no surprise the project was recognised with four awards. Below are the judges’ comments.
