“To Die For” – Daniel Truscott
Last week Daniel Truscott opened another solo exhibition of amazing paintings and sculpture at Murano and Gullotti in W.A. The exhibition is named “To Die For” and displays more feverishly than previous exhibitions, Dan’s darker sense of humour. While still using toys as objects in a traditional Still Life sense, Dan creates avenues for his own commentary and subject matter, which is anything BUT traditional. This particular exhibition explores the doom and gloom of events surrounding the Global Financial Crisis and current political unrest abroad. And on the lighter side, Dans work in “To Die For” explores the life of regular toys that can take on the form of imaginary characters. From all of us at Lump, congratulations Dan, we are hope to see a Melbourne version of the show some time soon. “To Die For” can been seen until the 28th of November at Murano and Gullotti.
