Sphere Sculpture Polished Concrete Effect

The Sphere Sculpture finished with the hand painted Polished Concrete Effect was selected by Mark Browning as the feature piece in his garden design for the Fleming's Trailfinders Australian Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2007. The team received a Silver - Gilt Medal for the Garden. Image by Martyn Rushby

The sphere was a definite focal point in the winning garden and received a lot of positive attention. The BBC often featured the Sculpture as a preferred back drop for their filming during the show.

Chris and Tim travelled with the team to the UK to install the Lump Sculptures selected for the garden and to also be part of the whole team experience. Congratulations on the medal guys, the garden was brilliant and we had an amazing time. Thanks to the whole team for being so much fun and special Thanks to Wes Fleming, Mark Browning, Stephen & Tim from Kiama and Leanne from Fleming’s.

The owners of this stunning property in rural NSW were interested in the Sphere Sculpture but were hoping to achieve a more contemporary finish. We decided to hand paint this piece in several shades of grey and white automotive paint (yes it does take days!) which mimics the look and feel of polished concrete.

We think the Sphere always look best when positioned on a 45 degree angle. This concrete base makes an excellent footing for our stainless steel pin. The pin is positioned inside the Sphere itself, allowing us to create this angle without compromising on the strength or stability of this piece.
