Botanical Screen Series (Bracken)

'Bracken', the third installation in Lump's 'Botanical Screen' series, was inspired by this hardy native-Tasmanian plant. Its delicate fronds, each stemming perfectly horizontally from a central sturdy stem are an iconic representation of the majesty of the Tasmanian forest. The screen, constructed from Corten steel or aluminium, highlights the harmonious symmetry of the fronds when they are seen in isolation - a distinct contrast to its natural position as a ground-cover in the forest understorey. Available in a range of finishes, Lump's designers evoke the differences in light intensity that are present in the forest understorey, illustrating the importance of shade that keeps the plants cool and moist.
